YouTube and Google have both celebrated what would be the 70th birthday of John Lennon with a temporary facelift.
Both sites have changed their logo to an ‘Imagine’ album cover-esque squiggle to celebrate the life and times of the singer.
YouTube, however, have gone one step further, teaming up with EMI and Yoko Ono to invite fans to submit videotapes tributes to Lennon and have them shown alongside similar clips by artists such as Ringo Starr, Brian Wilson, Aerosmith, The Jonas Brothers, Jeff Bridges, Tony Hawk, Bret Michaels, DMC (of Run-DMC fame), Brandon Boyd (Incubus), Bill Walton and more.
If you want to submit your own, you can do so by clicking here.
“I hope you’ll join me and a family of peace around the world to celebrate this very special day,” Yoko Ono said. “Send in your own video tribute to YouTube and we will share in keeping John’s memory alive. Think peace, act peace, spread peace and imagine peace. I love you.”
Earlier this week, EMI released eight remastered versions of Lennon’s solo work, including ‘Power To The People: The Hits’, ‘Gimme Some Truth’, a stripped down remix of ‘Double Fantasy’ and the ‘John Lennon Signature Box’.
Happy birthday, John Lennon.
