The soundtrack for ‘Sweet and Sour’, the 1984 ABC TV series, is about to get an upgrade.
25 years after the show was aired, the two soundtrack albums will finally get a CD release. The soundtrack has been off the market for 20 years.
The show featured fictitious band The Takeaways.
‘Sweet and Sour’ featured songs from Rick Grossman (Divinyls), Todd Hunter (Dragon), Freddie Straucks (Skyhooks) and Deborah Conway (Do Re Mi).
“Music was a very important part of it from the beginning,” says originator Johanna. Piggott, the Sardine V, Scribble and XL Capris member who would go on to co-write the massive John Farnham hit Age Of Reason. “We insisted the music had to be done by real people, it had to reflect what it was really like out there.”
The Music Director for ‘Sweet and Sour’ was Martin Armiger, one time member of The Sports.
Other contributors to the soundtrack included Don Walker, Eric McCusker, Red Symons and Billy Miller.
ABC Records is placing the ‘Sweet and Sour’ soundtrack back in stores this week.
