Perth's theatrical indie rock quartet Snowman head out on a whistlestop tour of the nation's capitals.
Although they will span the country as part of the Big Day Out festival, Snowman have announced a four day tour of Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane with fellow hipster indie rockers The Temper Trap.Indeed 2006 was a very promising year for Snowman, but 2007 looks set to be their breakthrough. They have been building a discerning following for their darkly grandiose rock and their tense, electric live performances since 2003. Their Zombies On The Airwaves Of Paris EP of 2004 certainly gained converts, in 2005 they won the Favourite Newcomer WAMi Award and their self-titled 2006 debut album garnered much critical praise.
A truly diverse outfit, both musically (utilising violin, keys, theremin, samples and percussion alongside the traditional rock set-up) and culturally (members born in Indonesia, Iceland, England and Australia), Snowman are certainly one to keep an eye on in the new year.
Catch them at the following shows and make sure you pencil them into your BDO schedule.
11 January - Jive Bar, Adelaide
12 January - Northcote Social Club, Melbourne
13 January - The Annandale, Sydney
14 January - The Troubadour, Brisbane
