Superstar George Michael has been sentenced to eight-weeks in jail with a minimum of four-weeks to serve after crashing his car under the influence of cannabis.
Michael crashed his Range Rover into a photographic store in Hampstead in July. In court last month, he pleased guilty.He will spend four-weeks in jail and then a further four-weeks on probation.
George Michael appeared in court under his real name Georgios Panayiotou. According to the BBC, the singer "gasped" when the sentence was passed down.
Michael's QC Mukul Chawla sais that this has come at a time when George was trying to get his life back together and for the first time in years had started to write again.
In handing down the sentence Judge John Perkins said, "I accept entirely that you have shown remorse for the offence, that you are ashamed of it, that you admitted it. It does not appear that you took proper steps to deal with what is clearly an addiction to cannabis."
