Dan Kelly caught the eyes and ears of New West Records A&R Executive Peter Jesperson this week at BIGSOUND in Brisbane.
Jesperson told a panel he was very impressed with what he heard from Kelly, after Kelly performed a showcase gig at the Artisan in Brisbane for the music industry conference BIGSOUND.New West Records would be the perfect American home for Kelly. The label releases music by Kris Kristofferson, Rickie Lee Jones, Steve Earle, John Hiatt and Australia's Ben Lee.
Peter Jesperson has a great ear for new music. He has been in the business since 1972. In 1980, he discovered, signed, managed and produced The Replacements for four albums.
Dan Kelly has been since 1996 and released his first EP 'Man O Mercy' in 2003. In 2004, he formed The Alpha Males with Gareth Liddiard and Christian Strybosch from The Drones and Tom Carlyon from The Devestations.
His most recent album 'Dan Kelly's Dream' was released this year.
