Kids are old enough to vote for one thing this August – the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards.
The nominees for the Kids' Choice Awards have been announced, across a varied sphere of disciplines, including: Fave Song, Cutest Couple, The LOL Award, and Best Adapted Screenplay (just kidding). On the music front, the nominees for Fave International Band are Black Eyed Peas, Paramore, Bug Time Rush and Glee (?).
Jostling for Fave Song are the eminently kid-friendly acts Lady Gaga for 'Telephone', Katy Perry for 'California Gurls', Ke$ha for 'Tik Tok' and Jason Derulo for 'In My Head'.
The Fave Aussie Musos battling it out are Jessica Mauboy, Vanessa Amorosi, Short Stack and Guy Sebastian.
The nominees for Fresh Aussie Muso are Amy Meredith, Orianthi, Stan Walker and Cody Simpson.
More hotly-contested categories include: Hottest Hottie, Big Kid Award and Top Toon.
Voting opens today, Monday August 16, at the Nick site and, unlike most representative democratic elections, kids can vote as often as they wish.
All this said, the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards has had some heavy-hitting hosts in the past – last year they snared Delta Goodrem and the Madden brothers from Good Charlotte and performances by Guy Sebastian, Cassie Davis and Jessica Mauboy.
They're yet to announce who will be appearing at this year's award ceremony, which returns to the Sydney Entertainment Centre after a two year hiatus on October 8.
