A new Deep Purple documentary is currently in the making and is set for release next year.
The film will be called 'Getting Tighter' and shows the band during their turbulent years in their "MKIV" line up before their disbanding in 1976 and will feature archival footage, as well as new interviews with Jon Lord and Glenn Highes. It chronicles the auditioning and death of guitarist Tommy Bolin, the bands legendary drug use and their self eventual self destruction.
There will be rare live performances of 'Smoke On The Water', 'Burn' and 'Highway Star', 'Love Child' and 'You Keep On Moving', the latter two from the MKIV lineup's only album.
The DVD will also include the film 'Deep Purple Rises In Japan', a previously unreleased documentary about the band, so you get two for the price of one!
The film is set for release in "early 2011".
