Glenn Richards, the voice of Augie March, will release an album in the near future will a killer lineup of musicians and no doubt an equally killer line up of songs.
Richards is quick to dismiss it as a solo album, saying "it's not really a solo album, it's another album of songs written by me that happens to feature other players and a deliberately low rent approach to the making."Appearing on the record will be Mike Noga (The Drones, The Gentlemen of Fortune) and Dan Luscome (The Drones, Paul Kelly).
They will join Richards' brother Chris who "was learning the second solo from Metallica's 'Orion' out the back of our Kialla block while I was memorising an economical response to Les Murray's 'Broad Bean Sermon' and trying to hold down my Weet Bix before my HSC," and Ben Bourke who has made a name for himself as the "slightly red headed bass player" from Ned Colette.
The album was recorded in a huge warehouse where 19 songs were rehearsed and recorded in a month. Richards describes the experience as "a fair achievement and not without cost to health and sanity."
There is no date or title for the record as of yet, but it's expected to be out before the end of the year.
