Will.i.am will be presented with the BMI President’s Award at the Urban Awards Ceremony in September.
The awards are there to salute the creators and publishers of the most performed urban songs of the previous year, but the President's Award is only presented on unique occasions to recognise the work of an individual who has "distinctly and profoundly influenced the entertainment industry."Will.i.am has been chosen to receive it to celebrate his work as an artist, producer and humanitarian and will see him join the ranks of Juanes, Taylor Swift, Willie Nelson and Brian Wilson.
The invitation-only event will take place on Friday, September 10 at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood.
