A sly tweet from Epitaph owner Brett Gurewitz welcomes Weezer into the fold.
Under his oblivionpact twitter account, Brett Gurewitz has announced that Weezer have signed to his record label Epitaph. He tweeted: "Rivers, Pat, Brian and Scott, Welcome to Epitaph homies! FT=W="
Obviously "Rivers" and the Weezer logo on the "w" was a giveaway.
Weezer's last album, 2009's Raditude was on Geffen/Interscope. They split with Geffen in December of last year.
The band speculated that they might release future material themselves, or online, but did leave themselves open to a new label.
Following this news, Weezer come to a label that has branched out from its base as the home of punk rock in the US.
They're now labelmates with acts like inventive hip-hop acts Busdriver, The Coup and Danger Doom, heritage rockers Social Distortion and a list of legacy SoCal punk bands.
They might even be released through the sub-label ANTI-, which has hosted albums from Tom Waits, Michael Franti, Tricky, Neko Case, Billy Bragg and more.
