Previously polite Scot folkie KT Tunstall gets gritty and beaty on the first single to her new album.
Tunstall's new album is called Tiger Suitand is due out in the UK on September 20 and in the US on September 28, and the first single 'Push The Knot Away' signals a roughed up new sound.A promo video for the album, featuring the song, shows her recording with her band at Berlin's Hansa studio (birthplace of Bowie's Heroes and U2'sAchtung Baby).
She's also got a new band, featuring Rej ap Gwynedd (who has played with Apollo 440 and the Mighty Boosh band), Charlotte Hatherley, Luke Bullen and Kenny Dickenson on synths.
'Push The Knot Away' features a husky Tunstall, a hyperactive electronic beat and a grimy bassline, played on a bass guitar once owned by Paul Simonon from the Clash.
A message accompanied the new promo video, calling the songs "a signature track on the album for me, as it was one of my first attempts at mixing a picked acoustic tune with electronica."
