The infamous Wu-Tang Clan have signed up for their first album since 2001's 'Iron Flag'.
The man credited with bringing the Wu-Tang Clan to the masses, Steve Rifkind of SRC Records, announced on his blog that the band would release a new album in 2007. A mysterious Bobby Diggs (obviously the RZA, although Rifkind jokes on his blog that co-worker Monique was clueless) visited, and soon after they announced their next project.Rifkind spoke to All Hip Hop, saying, "We always talked about it, but the timing was never really right." He cited "great albums" from Wu Tang alumni Ghostface Killah ('Fishscale' which was certainly one of 2006's greatest hip hop efforts) and Method Man (whose '4:21... The Day After' was not so brilliant) as promising signs for the next Clan album.
He also said, "Not only did I want, as a fan, want one more Wu-Tang record, but RZA also wanted one more Wu-Tang record. And then when we started discussing it a few months ago, the timing of it was just really perfect."
The plan is to start recording in the new year with a release later in 2007 and a tour mooted.
