Brandon Boyd, vocalist for multi-platinum alt-rockers Incubus, swiftly releases his first solo album.
The album will be called The Wild Trapeze, released through Sony on July 9, digitally but only for a limited time as a physical disc.Boyd said in a press release, "The Wild Trapeze began as pot-induced meanderings on my dusty acoustic guitar while Incubus was off of the road, and has slowly been morphing into things that I originally could never have imagined."
It's an all-Boyd affair, where he wrote every track, played almost every instrument, designed the cover and co-directed the video for the first single 'Runaway Train'.
Most helpful was producer Dave Fridmann, who has recently worked with OK Go, Tame Impala, MGMT and the Flaming Lips.
There's no threat of Boyd leaving his first love though, as Incubus are already booked to record their seventh album before the end of the year.
They plan to release the follow-up to 2006's Light Grenades in 2011.
