Guitarist, vocalist and percussionist for My Morning Jacket, Carl Broemel, plots his solo debut.
The album, All Birds Say, is due on August 31 through ATO Records. The first single, 'Heaven Knows' was released last week. It's a sweet and tender folk track but the album will feature country influences with orchestral sounds. His father is a former member of the Indianapolis Symphony and contributes saxophone, bassoon and clarinet.
This isn't the first time a member of the revered, sprawling psych-country outfit has taken off on a flight of fancy. That honour belongs to singer Jim James' cover EP of George Harrison tunes of last year.
My Morning Jacket are currently preparing for August dates supporting Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers and have announced that they will perform for five nights in a row at New York's Terminal 5 in October, playing one of their albums in its entirety each night.
