Maxwell has cancelled much of his 2011 US tour, with speculation the tour fell in a heap over a rift with co-headliners Jill Scott and Erykah Badu.
An official release points to "conflicts with the venues" but Billboard is suggesting that the problem was Maxwell himself and a confrontation with the other performers on the tour. The second leg of this tour was due to begin on June 28 in Greensboro, NC but promoter Live Nation is now listing it as "postponed until 2011" despite offering refunds to ticket buyers.
The shows did not have the usual lack of ticket sales to base the cancellation on. Problems that both Jill Scott and Erykah Badu had with Maxwell's attitude have been widely reported.
A statement from Jill Scott's publicist said "Jill has enjoyed every moment on stage with Maxwell, whom she calls a consummate gentleman and tour mate. She looks forward to sharing the rest of the tour with all of the supportive followers."
