Google`s third most searched for term today was `Justin Bieber Died`.
The celebrity death rumours seem to spread like wildfire on the internet these days with the Bieber story the second major fake celebrity death story this week.Russell Crowe's demise was also greatly exaggerated just 48 hours ago.
Last year, in a rush to get a story to air, Australia's Richard Wilkins chose it was more important to be first that correct when he killed off Jeff Goldblum. Goldblum went on air with Stephen Colbert a few days later to prove the Wilkins story was incorrect. Colbert refused to believe the in-the-flesh Colbert because Goldblum's death had been reported "on the Internet".
Tom Hanks and Tom Cruise have also met with a similar fate to Goldblum, Crowe and Bieber. However, we don't expect a rebuttal from Gary Coleman anytime soon. Occasionally, the internet does get one right.
