After millions of sales for their last two albums, it's no surprise that Black Eyed Peas' next effort promises "fun".
Ringleader will.i.am spoke to Billboard about their forthcoming follow-up to the multi-platinum smash 'Monkey Business'. He said that their next album is "almost finished" but then goes on to say that there are twelve songs written, they'll write another "30 or 40" songs, and that it's slated for a release this time next year. In other words, it's by no means "almost finished".Better news for early fans of the group, will.i.am claimed that the album will actually deal with social and political issues, while at the same time remaining "fun". So hopefully less songs about humps, pumping it and heart phunking and more songs like 2000's 'Weekend'. The producer noted, "It's not, 'Oh, everything messed up! Oh my gosh, we're doomed!' It's a thinking record. It brings up what's happening in the world. 'Monkey Business' didn't do that."
Thankfully will.i.am is aware of the fragility of pop stardom. He said, "We're afraid of losing what got us here, and that was humbleness and hunger."
