Poison singer Bret Michaels has been discharged from an Arizona hospital following his brain hemorrhage two weeks ago.
Bret’s doctor Joseph Zabramski held a media conference at the St Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center today to announce that, “Mr. Michaels is indeed a lucky person, a very lucky person”.Michaels was in a critical condition following the brain hemorrhage after just weeks earlier undergoing an emergency appendectomy.
The doctor said that Michaels had developed hyponatremia, a sodium deficiency that causes seizures and blood clotting around the brain stem complicated by “out of control diabetes”.
Bret’s treatment was complicated by his diabetes as he was unable to be treated with the medicines most commonly used.
His present condition is described as poor. "He can walk, but he's not walking very well. He's talking very well. He's mentally aware of everything that's going on," the doctor said.
They do know what triggered the hemorrhage at this time but the doctor did know that it wasn’t caused by the bump on the head he received recently at the Tony Awards.
Dr Zabramski said that Michaels had been discharged from the hospital and was recovering at an unnamed location. Bret will continue to receive treatment every two weeks and will need six to eight more weeks to recover. It will take seven to 10 days before any normal activity will be resumed.
