In a wonderful tale of irony, fashion band Panic! At The Disco have complained that people don't take them seriously because they are too good looking.
Guitarist Ryan Ross has explained that his band has two types of fan - the 'real' fans who like the music, and the screamy teens who gush over frontman Brendan Urie.Ross told MTV, "It's kind of disappointing and disgusting in a way, how some people are focusing on how we look."
He went on to contradict himself somewhat, saying, "I think a lot of those things we think are special , the way we dress, the things we put into our stage show , some fans don't even realize that because they're just drooling over Brendan. I feel like it taints the music."
Ross didn't discuss the other reason that people don't take them seriously, namely that their popularity is bound by temporality, market hype and transient popular trends.
