Members of New York Dolls, Spandau Ballet and The Clash have paid tribute to Malcolm McLaren.
Tributes have been flooding in for Malcolm McLaren, who died suddenly yesterday. The former Sex Pistols manager and punk mastermind lost his battle with cancer in Switzerland, aged 64 reports xfm.co.uk.'For me Malc was always entertaining and I hope you remember that," said Sex Pistols frontman John Lydon. "Above all else he was an entertainer and I will miss him, and so should you."
"I'm just in total shock, absolute shock about it all', said The Clash guitarist Mick Jones. "Malcolm was an incredible talent, he was a massive influence on punk and it's a huge loss'.
Former partner and fashion designer Vivienne Westwood added, 'When we were young and I fell in love with Malcolm, I thought he was beautiful and I still do. I thought he is a very charismatic, special and talented person."
'Malcolm McLaren was such a marvelous amalgam of exuberation, sensuality, culture, and literacy salted with the essential recognition of his own rascality', said David Johansen of the New York Dolls. 'He was the perfect preservation against stuffiness and a lack of humanity. We are going to miss him.'
'A lot of people will definitely be feeling the loss of this genius', added Annabel Lwin of Bow Wow Wow. 'He saw such great potential in people. He just went all these different directions. You can’t really say any less than that: The guy was a genius'.
Gary Kemp of Spandau Ballet said "Malcolm drew up the roadmap by which we all found our success".
