Do not call Batusis a supergroup. Despite a line-up boasting a Dead Boy, a New York Doll and two Blackhearts, they do not like the tag.
“It is used to cheaply,” Sylvain Sylvain tells undercover.com.au. “That’s thrown around an awful lot,” Cheetah Chrome adds.Batusis spent just five days in the studio putting down the four songs found on their debut E.P. “With the music and stuff, it was basically recorded live,” Syl tells Undercover. “When don’t have fading ending and stuff like that. We are a live band that got recorded”.
“We like to fly by the seat of our pants. We like improvising and getting ourselves into situations,” Cheetah said.
Cheetah credits Joan Jett’s rhythm section for filling out the Batusis sound. “We had a great rhythm section. We had Tommy and Enzo from the Blackhearts. We had one whole night just to work with them and get the rhythm tracks and then three nights to decorate them.”
