Deftones dumped their previous album `Eros` to release a brand new one this May.
The 6th Deftones album will be called ‘Diamond Eyes’ instead of the dumped album ‘Eros’.‘Eros’ was completed in 2008 but the band officially decommissioned it in June 2009 when they went back to the studio to start work on ‘Diamond Eyes.
The band decided to drop negativity and go positive for this record. They had dealt with bass Chi Cheng’s car accident in 2008. He has been in a coma ever since.
Singer Chino Moreno wanted a positive and optimistic album. “The songs on the album do not feature songs about complaining, hurting, or how "life sucks" - a common lyrical theme Moreno has noticed since the early 90s,” he said in a statement.
There is a free download of the track Rocket Skates here. here.
‘Diamond Eyes’ was produced and mixed by Nick Raskulinecz (Alice in Chains, Coheed & Cambria, Foo Fighters), and recorded and engineered by Paul "Fig" Figueroa (Alice in Chains, Bad Religion).
The album will be released May 18.
