We have heard sillier rumours in the past but today`s story that Noel Gallagher might replace Simon Cowell on American Idol surely must be a joke.

Asked about possible new panellists, the high-waited trouser wearer told E! Online.
"Noel? Do you think people would [be able to] understand him?"
When subtitles were suggested, he replied:
"Subtitle him! [Laughter.] Actually I know Noel quite well, and I like him. He's quite funny and a brilliant songwriter. It's a possibility."
Other possible replacements included the just as dumb idea of using celebrity blogger Perez Hilton as a judge.
