Melbourne breakfast radio team Grubby and Dee Dee had a scoop this morning when they talked to Sharona Alperin, this morning following the news of the death of The Knack singer Doug Fieger.
Sharona Alperin is the Sharona in The Knack’s ‘My Sharona’. She was a 16-year old when Fieger wrote ‘My Sharona’ about here.Fieger and Sharona dated for about 5-years and were engaged before they broke up. She was by his side over the weekend before he died on Sunday.
She told Grubby and Dee Dee how she toured the world with the band and that most of the first album ‘Get The Knack’ was about her.
About her name, she says “when I introduce myself at least 70% of the people with say like “My...” without even knowing the song is about her.
Doug Fieger died from cancer on Sunday. He was 57.
