U2 have wrapped up their world tour in grand style in Honolulu, with the veteran Irish rockers joined on stage by Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong, Pearl Jam and some lucky audience members.
For only the second time, Armstrong joined U2 for a live rendition of their charity single collaboration, 'The Saints Are Coming'. The track - originally performed by Scottish punk band The Skids - was recorded for the Music Rising initiative.Eddie Vedder and Mike McCready from support act Pearl Jam also joined U2 for a re-jigged version of Neil Young's 'Rockin' In The Free World', a version which was debuted at Melbourne's Make Poverty History concert in November.
Several audience members were asked by U2 to join then on stage, with one musically inclined fan finding himself playing piano with band during 'Who's Gonna Ride The Wild Horses?'. Another young girl was perched atop the stage monitors with Bono as he sung the seminal tune 'Sunday Bloody Sunday'.
U2's 'Vertigo' tour is expected to be the second highest grossing tour of all time, falling behind The Rolling Stones' recently completed 'A Bigger Bang' tour, which grossed $437 million. Whilst the books are yet to be balanced, 'Vertigo' is expected the gross more than $377 million.
