Raucous, trouble-making Texan indie rockers ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead have finished recording their sixth album.
In 2002, the wordy band found indie fame with their major label debut ‘Source Tags & Codes' but industry machinations (namely, them being bumped for more mainstream Universal Music acts) meant that 2005's delayed ‘World's Apart' failed to capitalise on their promise.Creative axis Conrad Keely told Billboard that after the ‘Worlds Apart' debacle, he was ready to give up music altogether, but he says a renewed, “'I don't give a f***' outlook," has resulted in their adventurous new, yet-to-be-titled album.
The album features guest spots from Dresden Dolls' Amanda Palmer, members of Austin indie outfit Brothers & Sisters and King Crimson drummer Pat Mastelotto. Keely said that the inclusion of guests brought, “a diversity that I like.”
The band sounds like they have branched out musically as well, Keely admitting, “We used a lot of sounds from sample libraries, like native instruments and the like, and relied heavily on Logic Audio as a compositional tool," with one track ‘Wasted State of Mind' using Tahitian drum rhythms.
The band plan to tour in late 2006 with Blood Brothers.
