My Chemical Romance have been forced to pull out of their upcoming Australian shows after singer Gerard Way was suffering “severe vocal problems”.
“We are really sorry that we’ve had to cancel this tour, and apologise for any inconvenience it has caused,” Way said in a statement. “The last thing we ever want to do is cancel shows, but we’ll be back to Australia to make it up to the fans as soon as possible.”But it’s not all bad news. Jimmy Eat World have been confirmed as the band’s replacement.
Jimmy Eat World will also join Glassjaw, Sunny Day Real Estate, Motion City Soundtrack and RX Bandits at their Melbourne and Sydney side shows.
Fans holding tickets to MCR’s Feb 25 show at Sydney’s Big Top show are advised to take their tickets to the point of purchase for a refund.
A spokesperson for Soundwave today confirmed to Undercover that refunds will not be given for the festival.
