I feel really sorry for Annie Lennox. The poor thing was brought out to Australia to perform at The Logies and I bet today she is wondering what the hell that was all about.
The Logies are meant to be Australian television’s night of nights. Instead, it is one long reminder about how all the real stars now live in Hollywood.
So Annie has a great new compilation album, not that you would ever have known if you watched that school concert last night. There was no mention. Mind you, considering this was an television awards show, there was hardly any mention of TV shows either. That Red Carpet nonsense was one long contra payback for free clothes and jewelry.
Annie Lennox is one of the major music stars of our generation. She deserved better than that.
The Annie Lennox Collection is a great compilation of the works of a real talent.
To bring it totally up to date, there are two new tracks here. ‘Shining Light’ is a cover of an Ash song. ‘Pattern of My Life’ is Keane’s ‘Closer Now’ with a new name.
It is hard to believe that Annie released her first solo album 17 years ago. There have only been 4 solo albums to pool from, but the song she did for the ‘Bram Stoker’s Dracula’ movie gets to debut on an Annie album here.
The collection spans those four solo albums ‘Diva’ (1992), ‘Medusa’ (1995), ‘Bare’ (2003) and ‘Songs Of Mass Destruction’ (2007).
Special mention goes to Bryan Adams, as in yes that Bryan Adams, for the cover photo.
