Well the first Soundwave Festival for 2014 is merely three days away and all anyone has been talking about is – which bands have pulled out. Don’t worry though it isn’t all doom and gloom when it comes to this year’s festival, some bands are still keen as mustard (I don’t know if I can really say that when talking about a metal band – but hey I do what I want) to play head to Australia and show us what they’re made of. One of those bands being The Defiled; we spoke with Stich D and found out how he is feeling.

They’ve just released an EP on ITunes, they’re in the studio recording a brand new album, they’re throwing parties for university students over O Week, they’re about to head to Australia for an Australian Tour and they’re chatting with Undercover FM late on a Tuesday night. For those of you who didn’t quite get the hints I am talking about SIX60, New Zealand’s’ own five piece rock band.

It’s not every day you get to spend the afternoon (or morning depending where in the world you are) practicing Aussie Slang with Swedish hard rock/metal bands, so this reporter was delighted to have the opportunity to do so with Hardcore Superstar’s very own Joakim ‘Jocke’ Berg. We also managed talk all things Soundwave!

Aussie rockers Greenthief are just a few short days away from releasing their debut album ‘Voyage’ and are getting ready to head out on a headline tour to promote it. We caught up with the bands very own Julian Schweitzer to talk about all things Voyage, touring and even Steve James.

Progressive rock fans contain your excitement. In 7 short days Mother’s Child will be making the long track from Austria to Australia for the very first time as part of their ‘Endless Space’ Tour. We were lucky enough to catch up with a very nervous but very excited Jan Haussels before the band kicked into tour mode.

We have always loved James Vincent McMorrow but now we know he loves us too! His second album ‘Post Tropical’ is set for release in January 2014 – unless you’re Australian. We’ve all be anxiously awaiting the release of Jordie Lane’s EP ‘Built To Last’ which is set to be released on October 18th.

I’m going to be honest with you about two things; firstly I am not the biggest fan of metal. Secondly, I have a very short attention span – so instrumental albums are not something I enjoy. Although I can appreciate musical talent and I love reviewing music I tend find that without lyrics I get incredibly bored unbelievably quickly.

I read somewhere once that if your girlfriend is listening to Taylor Swift you’ve either done something incredibly wrong or incredibly right. For the most part I think this statement is true, however they left out one major factor – if your girlfriend is listening to Taylor Swift on repeat for months on end then the singer is probably coming back to Australia as part of her Red Tour. Unlucky for my boyfriend the later was the case over the weekend and we went to see her live at Suncorp Stadium.

It doesn’t matter if you were born yesterday or if you could be classified as ancient – either way you know and/or love Belinda Carlisle. Lucky for us Townsville was presented with a very rare opportunity to see her live at The Venue.

Before I say anything about the latest EP from Bear’s Den ‘Without/Within’ there is something I simply have to admit to, and I hope that I am not alone when I say this. Font man Andrew Davie literally has the sexiest voice. I could listen to him on repeat all day and never want to turn it off.
